CROSS COUNTRY

The Beds (and Bucks) County Championships were held at Stockwood Park, Luton on Saturday 4th January 2014.

The conditions were mild but very wet with a lot of standing water. Although muddy in places it wasn't as bad as some courses. Thanks to all the officials and marshalls who stood out in the rain all afternoon.
A few races suffered some issues with the route taken by the runners. In the U20 men's race the marshall's (correct) instructions were contradicted by a coach and as a result the runners took the wrong turn. However the quick thinking marshall ensured everybody took the same route and therefore, although not the planned route, it was consistent and the Referee allowed the result to stand.
The Veteran 60 men's race also suffered some issues with the final turn being the primary one. A number of runners took different courses and with a lack of any consistency, the Referee was forced to declare this race void.
The results reflect one revision in the U13 boy's race and two corrections to the spelling of names. Please advise of any queries with any other results.
Well done to all the individual and team winners and medallists.

The winners of the junior age groups will be selected to represent the East of England at the London mini marathon.

The SEAA Inter-County Championships will be at Shuttleworth, near Biggleswade, Beds on Saturday 14th December 2013.

Any athletes wishing to be considered for the team (or their coaches), please contact either Richard Inchley (men's team manager) or Emma Coombes (women's team manager).

The Beds Schools County Championships will be at a venue TBC in February 2014. Date TBC from 2pm.

The CAU Inter-County Championships will be at Cofton Park, Birmingham on Saturday 8th March 2014.

The first three (5 seniors) in each race at the County Champs will be guaranteed selection.

Other dates are:

South of England champs at Parliament Hill, London on Saturday 25th January 2014.
The Nationals at Wollaton Park, Nottingham on Saturday 22nd February 2014,
