Final 2007 Bedfordshire Top 10 Rankings

Congratulations to Ros Gonse of Bedford and County on her part in the Victorious British Women's European Cup Multi-Event team. Details here.

Congratulations to Nigel Levine of Bedford and County on his Gold Medal in the 4x400M team at the European Junior Championships in Hengelo Holland on July 18th-23rd.

The 2007 County Championships were held at Sandy Sports and Community Centre, Sandy on Sunday 13th May. Despite the poor conditions some great performances were witnessed.

2007 Championship Results

The first three in the U17 100M were invited to a Spar Sprints U17 100M against the other Eastern Region County championships medallists at the Bedford International Games on the 10th June.
Results were:
Men
DJ Tobias 1st in the Final in 11.17 having won heat 2 in 11.26
Isaac Rasmussen 4th in heat 1 in 11.89 (missed qualification by 0.02 secs)
Women
Lucy James 4th in the final in 12.68 haviing finished 4th in heat 2 in 12.94. Qualified as a fastest loser.
Jonelle Johnson Turner and Louise Eddis finished 6th and 7th in heat 2 in 13.58 & 13.82 respectively
Christine Reid finished 7th in heat 1 in 14.06.

The 2007 Beds County School Championships were held at Stockwood Park, Luton on Tuesday 12th June.

English schools Medallists from Bedfordshire at Birmingham on 14/15th July were:
Lucy James (Inter Girl) Winner of 300M,
Hannah Longworth (Junior Girl) Winner of Long Jump
Natasha Peters (Senior Girl) 2nd in 3,000M
Simeon Bennett (Junior Boy) 2nd in Triple Jump
Ryan Parker (Inter Boy) 2nd in 3,000M,
Alex Holdsworth (Junior Boy) 3rd in Hammer

As you will see many of the team made their finals with a number of places just outside the medals and some athletes narrowly failing to progress. Very well done to the Bedfordshire Team.

Also as a result two athletes were selected for the Schools International (England / Ireland / Scotland / Wales) at Newport on 21 July 2007.
Inter Girls 300m Lucy James - 1st - 39.96sec.

Inter Boys 3000m Ryan Parker - 3rd - 8min 52.79

CAU Inter-Counties HIGHLIGHTS from Bedford on 27th/28th May
1st - Rob Lewis - 400M Hurdles - 53.53 secs
2nd - Huw Lobb - 10,000M - 30 mins 29.78 Secs
4th - Glen Kerr - Hammer - 60.97M
5th - Nigel Levine - 200M - 21.40 Secs
6th - Emma Hughes - Long Jump - 5.66M
(N.B. 2-4th all had 5.69M and 5th was 5.66M !)

The men's team finished joint 9th on 32 points in the Achilles Shield
The women's team finished 14th on 12 points in the Essex Trophy.
Thanks to all athletes who competed for Bedfordshire at Bedford Stadium on 27th/28th May in conditions that were even more atrocious than the County Championships !!

Eastern Outdoor Results from Cambridge on 8th July

SEAA U13 Inter-Counties HIGHLIGHTS from Kingston on July 29th
The Boys team finished 4th, just a half point behind third place.
The Girls team finished in 11th place
Martin McGarral's victory in the High Jump was a massive PB at 1.61M and lifted him to No.2 in the UK U13 rankings.

Eastern Inter-Counties (Hibbard/Bemax/Peterhouse Trophies) HIGHLIGHTS from Bury St Edmunds on September 2nd
The Senior Men finished an outstanding 2nd in the Hibbard Trophy.
The Senior Women finished an excellent 3rd in the Bemax Trophy.
The Under 17th Men finished a very good 4th in the Peterhouse Trophy.
I am not going to pick out the highlights as they were too numerous. See the full results for all details.
Note Essex, a far larger county, won all three competitions.
