Welcome to the Bedfordshire AAA Web Site
COVID 19 UPDATE 12th APRIL
As the next phase of lockdown easing begins and following discussions with England Athletics we are now looking forward to Competition restarting.
TRACK and FIELD now has proposed dates for County, Regional and National competition. Please note all dates are still TBC and most are after the June 21st proposed removal of all restrictions.
The County champs will NOT be in May but are proposed to be held at the end of July.
We are also looking at potentially hosting the Bedfordshire Open on 12th June
ROAD RACING also has dates for the proposed County champs races. Note Leighton Buzzard has replaced Sandy for the 10 mile race.
Some races are TBC and some are cancelled.
As for the County Tracks:
Luton re-opened on 29th March,
Sandy will re-open on 13th April
Bedford we are awaiting confirmation.
COVID 19 UPDATE 28th FEBRUARY
Following the Prime Minister’s update on 22nd February we are looking at the implications.
Tracks can in theory re-open from 29th March for training.
Luton is planning to do that.
Sandy may be 12th April and we are waiting for news on Bedford.
Local competition can also in theory restart after that time in a limited fashion.
In reality, competition is more likely to restart after 17th May. We will be looking at options for both the Bedfordshire Open and the County Champs.
We are talking to England Athletics about clarification on all of this and will bring you further updates as details become clearer.
We will carry over the county badge athletes awards to next year but a list of the eligible athletes for this year will be posted on the website shortly. There are a number of athletes who represented the county in the 19/20 cross country season before the lockdown
County Badge athlete lists for the last thirteen years are on About Us.
